The Coffs Coast Dragon Boat Club has grown quickly from its beginnings. A small number of dedicated and committed people have had a vision for healthy communities. This vision has evolved into promoting a sporting club that as grown to enjoy a friendly paddle and increase its participation in sporting and competitive events.
The membership has grown to nearly 60 people who have taken up the challenge to become involved in the dynamic sport. Whilst we have a membership which is mainly of Masters and Grand Masters age we are currently recruiting to grow our club across all age groups to advance the sporting side of our club. We also have a Dragons Abreast contingent who have been an active part of our Club from the beginning.
Our governing body is DBNSW and AusDBF who has strict regulations we must abide by. Therefore our club has certain procedures we must follow. If any member has any queries they must be first directed to the President, Secretary or Treasurer before any action is taken.
At the heart of our values are fun, participation and inclusiveness in dragon boating by creating opportunities for members to compete at all levels in the sport. We encourage membership for people from all walks of life. We gather for social events too so that we can enjoy each other's company on and off the water to friendships and community.
We have young paddlers who participate at State, National and International events. Two Coffs Coast Dragon Boat Club junior members combined with Coffs Coast Dragon Boat Club junior members, combined with juniors throughout our state to form the “Torpedoes”. The Torpedoes won a gold medal in March 2012 at State. At the World Titles in 2012 in Hong Kong they won 2 bronze medals and a silver medal in the 2km race. These are great achievements for our young members.
